Hammered Dulcimer Performance (in development)

The hammered dulcimer has roots all across the world, including with Ashkenazi Jewish klezmer and within American folk tradition. Having grown up in a house of multiple faiths, I have constantly been looking for something that brings the two sides of my family together in a cohesive lineage. I found that in the hammered dulcimer.

I am planning on creating a musical show which intersperses hammered dulcimer music with storytelling about how the instrument’s journey to America parallels that of the Jewish tale to America. The story can provide insight into how American Jews can see themselves in relationship with this land we call home.
